How to Inspect the Qualification of Lay flat Water Hoses?

1. Check the regularity of connections and the finish of the product

First, examine whether the water hose’s connections are regular and if the finished product feels rough. If the connections are rough or irregular, this indicates poor quality—avoid purchasing such hoses.

2. Assess the flexibility of the hose surface fabric

Next, touch the fabric on the water hose’s surface with your hand and check if it feels brittle. You can also tap the surface gently: if the hose sounds or feels brittle when tapped, its quality is likely substandard

3. Conduct the burst pressure test in a folded state

After measuring the water seepage volume and relieving the pressure, fold the test sample in half from the center. Secure the folded sample together, then gradually and evenly increase the pressure to the specified burst pressure for the folded state. Maintain this pressure for 5 seconds to ensure the sample does not rupture. Note that the pressure should rise over a period of 30 to 60 seconds.

4. Prepare water for the water seepage test

Use municipal tap water for the water seepage test, and ensure the water temperature stays between 15°C and 30°C.

5. Perform the burst pressure test in a curved state

After measuring the burst pressure in the folded state, recording the water seepage volume, and relieving the pressure, bend the sample into an arc with an inner radius of 700 mm. Make sure one folded edge of the sample lies on the outer side of the arc. Then, uniformly increase the pressure to the specified burst pressure for the curved state—do not let the sample rupture. The pressure rise time should also be 30 to 60 seconds.

6. Calculate the weight per unit length

First, weigh the test sample (this is called the “sample weight”). Then, divide this weight by the length of the sample—the result is the weight of the agricultural water hose per unit length.
